PLYMOUTH PILOTS
A family ‘artisan’ boatbuilding company with enormous heritage. The goal of the rebrand was to bring a feel of the old oval shaped metal plates back to the logo, and show off the iconic shape of the boats. We wanted the font to excude a modernity at the same time as keeping the ‘family’ feel and not becoming too shiny and mainstream.
CALDO & FRED GELATERIA
This brand is personal so was quite easy when you're the client as well as the designer! I was looking for an office for my web design business Float Studio and a propertyu came up on Island Street with great shopfront potential. I have always wanted to make and sell gelato, so this seemed like fate!
The first exercise for me when setting up a new brand is finding a name that I can claim full ownership of, that isn’t spread all over the internet already in lots of different guises.
The idea was to create a smart ‘Salcombe’ brand without sticking Salcombe in the title….don’t get me started on that! But ‘caldo e freddo’ means hot and cold in Italian, which felt like a great direction for Affogato and Pizzette - our caldo, and Gelato - our freddo….and we then gave it a Devon surfy twist, and so Caldo & Fred was born.
A-FRAMES, SHOP SIGNAGE, LEAFLETS & FLYERS
Taking a town like Salcombe it’s been interesting to see how effective good A-frame signage has been in comparision to any other marketing materials. Matched with dynamic QR codes that easily send customers to the right landing pages for booking trips, A-Frames are a fantastic cost-effective way to generate new business.
